'Tis the Season...For Beautiful PPPR Files

I'm sharing a Christmas card with you today....because 1...it's my birthday and I can :) and 2...because it will be here before you know it and finally 3...to show you a different spin on Lisa's cutting files.

I created this card using Snowflakes Cutting Files, but instead of cutting them and piecing them, I used Silhouette Sketch Pens and traced each part of the snowflake in white card stock. I was so excited about this, it bordered on abnormal...(the counterproductive part of this is that I fussy cut all of the parts and pieces...but it's worth it, I promise!) used watercolors on them. I layered them and just look at that??! How fun is that snowflake?!?! Add some glitter glue for a sparkly snowflake feel if you want, and adhere it to the card front!

RUBY ROCK-IT | You're a Hoot!

02-RRCT-_blogg_bannerRRI - 10-21-15, Shannon M.

Happy Wednesday! Fall is in full swing in this neck of the woods! It's crisp, cool and getting festive. Halloween starts to take center stage and I was feeling inspired by that.

I heart owls. You'll find them all over my house. I wanted to make a card using some Ruby Rock-It and an owl cut file.

RRI 10-21-15, SHANNON M.Shannon Morgan 2-001

1. Begin with a card stock base. I used some card making supplies that you can find on the Ruby Rock-It site! I trimmed mine to 4.25" X 5.5". Using a paper from Happy Days (Floral HY40), I cut a mat for the card and adhered it.

2. Oddly enough, Ruby Rock-It has a very versatile paper in the Graduation Mini Theme! (You're a Star TMD93) I used it to cut a mat to add a layer. I added a piece of washi and a staple.

3. Using this same paper (You're a Star TMD93), you're going to flip it over to the star side and adhere it to the card front as shown. You're going to distress it at the top and tip the corner forward.

4. I added tracing paper. I love tracing paper, it is an effortless, yet bold layer. It adds texture and dimension without being overwhelming. Don't worry if your adhesive shows through, it will get covered up with other details.

5. Assemble your owl. I used Ruby Rock-It patterned papers to create this owl. (If you're wondering about this owl, I used a file from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.)

6. Add your assembled owl to the front of the card. Using some Ruby Rock-It wood veneer and die cuts, add a little embellishment as shown in the picture.

7. Using more great die cuts from Ruby Rock-It, some twine and adhesive, you can create a sweet little banner and add it to the bottom of the card as shown.

8. Using some more great wood veneer alphas add the hoot to the top of the card, running it along the owl's head.

As a final step I added some Happy Days droplets to the owl.

Here's the completed card.

THANK YOU for letting me share with you today!!

Olden times and ancient rhymes

Of love and dreams to share...

It's quickly approaching! I'm not beating down the door to Christmas and the holiday season, but I'm just standing outside pacing.

94 days....do you have a sense of wonder? Or a sense of panic?

I'm here today to make your life a little easier. All you need is some cardstock (or pre-made tags), twine, stamps, mist, glitter glue, markers and some ingenuity.

I used one sheet of white card stock to create these tags. I used a file and my cutting system to get an easy 20 tags out of the 12X12 sheet. Another easy way to get 20 tags? Buy some pre made ones.

Using Jane's Doodles stamps (I used stamps you can purchase in the SRM store,   "Warm Wishes") I stamped on each tag. If you notice, I did not stamp them perfectly at all. They are all off center. This is perfect for people who aren't stamping gurus. I am among that category. I love stamps, I just get easily intimidated.

Once you get them all stamped and they are nice and dry, you can begin coloring. That is always the fun part! After they're colored...you can use some mist and spatter it all over the tag, or if you aren't into that..skip it! You can also add the glitter glue at this time...this is also optional.

Once everything is good and dry, add your twine. I simply threaded the twine through and tied a bow.

You can either add another piece of twine to tie on a bag or gift...oooorr you can add a glue dot to the back and stick it right to a package!

I shared each set of 5 because I wanted to share all the fun little details.

Sometimes coffee makes everything better.

Amie from Little Lamm understands this and created some really great collections because she loves coffee also, and books...which is why I love her even more dearly.

The Austen Collection & the Coffee Day Mini Kit were perfect for this card set I made.

❉{RUBY ROCK-IT/MAYA ROAD | THIS IS HALLOWEEN}❉

02-RRCT-_blogg_bannerRRI:MAYA ROAD 1

October is here! It's my very favorite month! It's all things magical and FALL FILLED!

I am sharing a little Halloween decor with you today!

I created a little haunted house with some Maya Road (thank you for spoiling us!) and Ruby Rock-It products and I am going to show you how I did it!

RRI:MAYA ROAD STEP BY STEPShannon Morgan 2-001

Step 1: Using some Maya Road chipboard and some Maya Road packaging, you are going to create a ghost for the window. I used the backing for Maya Road packaging for both eh window and the ghost. Set the window aside, the beauty of this is you are going to cover the back so it doesn't have to be pretty.

Step 2: You're going to use the window you created to measure for your ghost. Using Maya Road packaging  again, you can outline and cut out a ghost. Adhere it to the window. Line it up with the chipboard house (open window) and using a pencil mark where you are going to adhere your window and set aside.

Step 3: I was going for a rustic feel so I used a paper from the Summer Daze collection. Add adhesive to the top side, flip it over onto the paper, making sure that the wood grain is facing away from you. You want the wood grain to be the house. After you've adhered it well, take your craft knife and cut out the windows, running your knife along the windows. Take care not to cut through the window pane.

Step 4: I'm inserting an extra picture for you here:

RRI:MAYA ROAD 6

Use the white border as an easy cutting guide, line the roof up with the paper, trace it and cut it out. As pictured in #4, adhere it on top of the woodgrain, and voila!...you have a roof.

The paper is from Ruby Rock-It's Graduation mini theme (You're A Star).

You can now adhere the ghost into the window. Line it up with the pencil marks you made and adhere it. Remember what I said about backing the house? Use another house that is the same shape in the Maya Road Chipboard assortment, line it up with the house, making sure they line up and then add adhesive.

Things I added to the house:

RRI:MAYA ROAD 7Shannon Morgan 2-001

Using some clear adhesive and Ruby Rock-It wood veneer (Stars & Hearts Wood Veneer), I created a star chimney, to match the starry roof. Using the Maya Road Trinket Pins, I inserted them into the roof to have it appear like there was some Halloween magic brewing inside.

RRI:MAYA ROAD 8Shannon Morgan 2-001

I added a little clipboard to the front of the house. I used some Ruby Rock-It and Maya Road, they coupled together perfectly. Using more chipboard, die cuts and embellishments! (I'm sorry for the blurry picture!)

This is the completed project, I'm planning on adding it amongst the Halloween decorations this year, provided Mackenzie doesn't swipe it for her room.
